Can you make a physical prototype from an AI-generated image?
An AI-generated image can start a project with Make It Physical. We first clarify what the product must do and identify the engineering needed to turn the image into a buildable design. The image alone is not a manufacturing specification. Drawings, geometry, materials, electronics and assembly details may need a separately scoped development phase.
Choose what the first prototype should demonstrate
If your immediate question is “How will this feel in someone’s hand?”, a model of the outer shape may be the right starting point. If you need to demonstrate a working mechanism or electronic function, the internal design and test plan matter just as much as the appearance.
Tell us which parts of the image are essential and which are visual inspiration. A surface finish, thin wall or seamless shape in a rendering may need to change when materials, strength, access and assembly are considered. We discuss those tradeoffs before agreeing the design.
Fill in the information an image cannot show
Start with the overall dimensions and a real-world reference for scale. Explain the product’s intended use, what fits inside it, how it is mounted or held and whether anything moves. For an enclosure, identify buttons, connectors, displays and access needed for assembly or service.
Materials and finishes should be selected around the requirements and fabrication process. A single view cannot define hidden geometry, internal supports, tolerances or how pieces fasten together. Additional drawings or CAD development may be needed; feasibility is assessed before manufacturing is quoted.
How the concept becomes a build package
The review separates known requirements from assumptions and open questions. A development proposal can define which drawings or models will be produced, the review milestones and the revisions included. You approve the design and scope before fabrication proceeds.
The approved package identifies the relevant dimensions, materials, interfaces and checks for the prototype. Where electronics are involved, the circuit, component placement, power and mechanical interfaces must be coordinated. Changes after approval may affect the price or schedule.
What you can upload now
Share PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF images through the project form. A marked-up sketch with approximate dimensions is often more useful than several polished views with no scale. Add a description of the intended function and flag anything the image does not explain.
You do not need to make up CAD files before contacting us. You can also begin without uploading a file. If confidentiality is required, select the NDA-first option and send only a non-confidential description until an agreement is in place.
Questions about this starting point
Is converting an image to a prototype an automatic process?
No. A rendering does not specify all the geometry or engineering needed to fabricate and assemble a product. The required development work is reviewed and scoped.
Will the result look exactly like the image?
Appearance targets are discussed during review. Manufacturing, materials and functional requirements may require changes that you approve.
Can I ask for only one sample?
You can request one prototype. Process suitability, setup work and minimum material or component purchases are confirmed in the proposal.
